Other materials may be fashionable, but you will find that espresso served in anything other than thick high fired porcelain runs the risk of going flat quickly. High fired porcelain makes the material durable and less likely to break.

“The ideal cup size for espresso is around 2.75 to 3.5 ounces,” says Raub. “A double espresso shot is around 2 ounces of volume, and having a smaller cup allows the coffee to retain more thermal mass.
